An event organised by google developer group of bangalore(GDG) and Android User Group of bangalore(blrdroid) in Google bangalore office on 18th October, weardroid was an event on the wearables devices and creating their apps. Event comprised of both developers and marketing people to get a clearer insight to what may fall upon the future of wearable devices. My first GDG or blrdroid event, I was excited to be there. 😀Morning

The event was very well planned. There were  design sprints and code sprints to encourage on-spot learning on creating wearable apps. Arguably, Android studio is to be considered to create wearable apps. Though, there are ways to tweak Eclipse for the same.
Here are a few links, if you are a hard-core Eclipse lover. [1] [2] I’ve only given two links which I think are quite detailed explained. However, there are numerous other links you can google on..

Design sprint focused on two case-studies and we were asked to create a moment where the app would be most useful. Everybody created their own and some stepped up to discuss about their designs further on. Quite a good collaboration of a few brilliant minds who came together to create awesome use-cases diagrams. All the designs and tweets can be found on the hashtag #AndroidWear or #WearDroid including the pics of a few designs which was tweeted of to.

Code sprint was kinda hard-on given the complex gradle system, which I never seem to get used to. Anyways, some awesome codes of previous wearable apps were shared. And all I found out was that it was nothing much different than normal android apps. The toughest part of creating a wearable app is the setup of Android Studio and ADB. 😛

Pizza and Coke for lunch, and coffee and cookie as much as you want. The event was awesome with the final small debate on with users, developers and business ends. Finally, a great day came to an end with the distribution of t-shirts. 😀
